Expanding the RiverKeeper Mission

The weekend did not afford any opportunity to get out on the kayak, but that will happen this evening instead.  This should be a good opportunity to gauge the scope of efforts required and establish a baseline.  Last night I encountered a trash covered beach while running near my apartment.  This public access point didn’t seem to have adequate trash facilities and being a slight bight, it was a natural collecting point for jetsam.  I hope to bike down there tomorrow after work to collect and assess what I can.  Every little bottle and bag counts, especially if littoral drift has presented me a natural collection point for my region of the Connecticut coast.
