Inspired by WaterKeeper, an organization headed by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., I have decided to take responsibility for the condition and monitoring of the river where I grew up.  I hope to first reduce the refuse deposited by boaters and swept down the watershed by the heavy rains this spring by making weekly rounds in my kayak through the marshes, inlets, and the channel.  I’ll upload pictures on this page of my weekly “catch” to demonstrate the impact we as humans have on our estuaries.  As the project continues, I hope to locate some affordable water testing equipment to monitor the health of the river and attract some other keepers to spread our impact.
